Welcome to the 37th annual Utah Sky Trials! We are excited to share our passion with you!

The Utah Sky Trials has always been a great opportunity for families and friends to witness one of Nature’s miracles up close and personal.

Date: Preliminary Flights Friday February 17, Finals Saturday February 18.

Time:  First flight takes off at 9:00 am both days.

Cost: Admission is $5 per person or $10 per car.

Explanation: There will be approximately 20 preliminary or qualifying flights on Friday. The judges will add up the points from those flights and the top 10 flights will be chosen to fly in the Finals on Saturday.

Welcome Scout Troops.

Looking for a unique outdoor scout activity? Bring your troop out and learn first hand what you may have read about in your Environmental Science Merit Badge book. You’ve read about peregrine falcons and how fast they are or maybe how falconers helped save the peregrine from extinction, now you can come meet falconers and see their falcons fly.

Considerations

Dogs. Please keep them on a leash and keep them near the audience. A dog out running free might be distracting for a falcon in flight.

Children. We are glad you are here. You are fortunate to get to see these falcons up close. Now just don’t get too close. Falcons and the other birds here generally don’t like to be touched or petted. They are still wild birds. Please ask the owner of the falcon if you can get a closer look.

Want to learn about more Falconry? Worried that you have a dumb question and don’t know who to ask? We have a dumb question guy named Ben Woodruff. Ben is a tall red-headed guy who may be walking around with an eagle. Feel free to ask him how to get started in falconry or any other question you may have. Feel free to ask questions of anyone with a bird. We are happy to answer any question you may have.

Photography.  Most falconers are happy to let you take pictures of themselves and their birds. Just to be safe, ask.

Companions in the field with contestants. We are limiting the number of people joining the falconer in the field to two.

Professional Photographers. If you are interested in taking pictures in the field please talk to Shayne Clarke. He can be found through the announcer at the meet or here.
